Volunteers play an integral part of our organization's efforts to provide practical help and hope to homeless, hungry and hurting people in the Hamilton community.  Mission Services has a limited number of volunteer opportunities available at this time. All of the opportunities listed below require that applicants be a minimum of 18 years of age. 

We sincerely appreciate your interest and look forward to offering more volunteer opportunities in the future.

Community Services Opportunity Centre (196 Wentworth St N)
Current volunteer needs:

Community Services volunteers required during hours of service: Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings (9-11am) to either interview (some computer experience required) or assist in the distribution of food, clothing, and basic household items.  Applicants should be fluent in writing, speaking, and reading English.  Knowledge of another language is helpful.  Applicants should be friendly and have good customer service skills. With food distribution, volunteers must be able to lift food boxes (up to 40 pounds). A weekly commitment would be required.

Suntrac Wellness & Addiction Treatment Centre (196 Wentworth St N)
Current volunteer needs:

Front Desk Volunteer (phone, light office work, greeting clients) needed for evenings from approx 4:30 to 8:15pm (start time can be a bit flexible). Knowledge of WORD and EXCEL are an asset. Shifts are currently available for Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday evening. This position requires a weekly commitment. Ideal for students studying Addictions or Social Work as slow-pace environment often allows for reading or for school work to be done while being involved in volunteering in their field of study.

For over twenty years, Ron hid his drug addiction from work colleagues, his close friends and his wife. Cocaine, marijuana and alcohol were every day recreational aids to Ron who held down a good job as the premiere sales person at a major car dealership. The addition of prescription pain killers to his drug recipe pushed Ron to the precipice.

Chef Luigi of St. Charles Chef Training Program offers cooking classes to clients at Mission Services.
