As a program of the Human Services Training Centre, the Assistant Cook Apprenticeship Program is accredited (equivalent of first year at George Brown or Niagara College) with the Ontario Government Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities.
Participants complete a 45 week part time course, 2 evenings a week, while employed in the food service industry, learning theory and skills in classroom sessions coupled with practical labs. Instruction is provided by qualified and experienced Chefs and Instructors. Participants learn: Sanitation & Safe Food Handling; Professional Food Preparation; Cooking & Baking Theory & Technique. Eligibility: Grade 10 or equivalent; currently employed in cooking industry; a need or desire to learn in a supported and smaller class size environment. Employment Support Services available.
