Is your loved one in Recovery? Is your life affected by the changes and you don't know how to cope? Do you wish you had a clearer understanding of addiction and the recovery process? Do you have questions about relapse?...if so, this group is designed just for you.
This open group is intended to provide assistance for people supporting individuals with substance use issues. Whether your loved one is in addiction treatment, planning on, or ever been in treatment or actively using substances, this group is created for you to help you understand what addiction is and how it negatively affects you and your family.
Individuals will examine and practice healthy behaviours through:
- Understanding what you can and cannot control
- Detachment versus care taking
- Dealing with fear, shame and resentment
- Setting boundaries and limits
- Assessing and expressing wants and needs
- Effective communication strategies
- Increasing your self esteem through self nurturing behaviours and assertiveness
- Appropriately expressing feelings
This thought provoking journey runs every Thursday evening from 6:30-8:00pm
The group will take place at 196 Wentworth St. N., Hamilton, Main Door. We are conveniently located just north of Barton St. on Wentworth.

I’ve been doing this for 16 years, and I’m finally sick of it. I want it to end.”
Nathan is a 31-year-old father. He lost custody of his son after living with an addiction that slowly tore his family apart. After he kept 'messing up', Nathan’s wife left him and moved to Hamilton with their son. Nathan followed; but so did his addiction.
